Google Search Appliance being replaced by Google Custom SearchBy: Judy Steward
In 2016, Google announced that the Google Search Appliance that Western uses for searching web pages was being phased out. We have spent the last year researching options and have determined that moving to Google Custom Search is currently the best path to take.
We have been working with Cascade site maintainers as well as a few others on campus who have their websites using our search appliance. Some sites have already moved to the new Google Custom Search and the remainder should be moved by November 24th in order to ensure that their search boxes continue to work properly on their websites.
Please contact the Help Desk at x3800 if you have any questions about the move to Google Custom Search.
