FAQ

Does Zoom Allow Uploading Files?

Zoom allows for In-Meeting file transfer.  For more information on this service click the following link: In-Meeting File Transfer.

Is Zoom encrypted?

All meetings are AES encrypted. End-to-end encryption is an added layer of application security. Zoom can encrypt all presentation content at the application layer using TLS 1.2 with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit algorithm. This is configured at the Western's account level for all users.

In a meeting where all of the participants are using Zoom clients, and the meeting is not being recorded, Zoom encrypts all video, audio, screen sharing, and chat content at the sending client, and do not decrypt it at any point before it reaches the receiving clients.

When users join Zoom meetings using devices that do not inherently use Zoom’s communication protocol, such as a phone (connected via traditional telephone line, rather than the app) or SIP/H.323 room-based systems, Zoom’s encryption cannot be applied directly by that phone or device.

Can Zoom Call Me?

This is not part of the standard license.

What if my Meeting Starts Without Me

It is still possible for a meeting to start with you (the host) even with Join Before Host disabled. If you have given someone Scheduling Privilege (which allows them to schedule meetings on your behalf), when that person joins a meeting before you, the meeting will start and they will be made the host. This is typically not a problem, as our recommendation to disable Join Before Host is based on preventing unwanted/uninvited participants from hijacking a meeting. After you join, the role of Host can be reassigned to you.
