VoiceThread Goes Appless!

VoiceThread has announced an important update: the platform is now fully browser-based, eliminating the need for the separate VoiceThread app. This change is designed to simplify access, reduce technical friction, and improve integration with OWL Brightspace and Sakai.

What’s Changing

• The mobile and desktop apps are being retired. After November 17, 2025, VoiceThread’s dedicated legacy app will no longer be supported.
• All functionality is now available directly in the browser, including recording, playback, commenting, and assignment workflows.
• Embedded VoiceThreads and ThreadBoxes can now be accessed seamlessly.
• Accessibility improvements have been introduced to support inclusive learning environments
• The OWL integration now offers a "seamless assignment experience", reducing login issues and improving navigation for students.
