iClicker Western University Training 2026: Recording and Q&A

The information for the questions below reflects the workflows demonstrated and discussed during the September 22, 2026 iClicker training session: 

Question: Can instructors vary the settings in different courses? 

Answer: Yes. Instructors can configure settings independently for each iClicker course.

Question: When participants respond to an anonymous activity, are their responses graded? 

Answer: No. Anonymous responses cannot be graded for correctness because the responses are not associated with individual students. However, instructors can award participation points for responding. 

Question: Can asynchronous Assignments also be connected to the LMS gradebook? 

Answer: Yes. Scores from iClicker Assignments can be synced with the LMS gradebook. 

Question: Does iClicker automatically create an item in the LMS gradebook? 

Answer: Yes. Once an instructor syncs grades from the iClicker course, the corresponding grade item is created in the OWL Brightspace gradebook. 

Question: It looks like points are always assigned for participation or performance. Can instructors choose whether to include the iClicker grade item in students' final grades? 

Answer: Yes. Instructors can manage how the iClicker grade item contributes to the final grade through the OWL Brightspace Grades tool. 

Question: Do students log into Attendance on their own when they arrive at class? Do instructors typically prompt students to complete the attendance activity? 

Answer: When the instructor starts the iClicker class session using the iClicker Cloud desktop app, students can join the active class using the iClicker Student app or web app. Attendance is recorded according to the attendance settings configured by the instructor.
