AI Companion

Zoom AI Companion is available for all Western University Zoom accounts. This integrated tool is designed to enhance virtual meetings by providing real-time transcriptions and summaries, streamlining communication and documentation. This allows participants to focus on discussions without missing key points.

While the AI Companion offers significant benefits, it is essential to use it responsibly to ensure privacy and data security throughout the meeting process. Initially, the AI Companion will be turned off by default, but you can easily enable the features you wish to try in your Western Zoom account settings at zoom.uwo.ca.

More information on Zoom AI best practices can be found in our Zoom AI Guidelines.

Hosts can request the AI Companion to generate a concise summary of their meeting, highlighting key points, action items, and decisions. This summary can be shared via link with invited participants after the meeting concludes.

Please note that only the meeting host and co-host can initiate and conclude the meeting summary using in-meeting controls. The summarization process begins when the host clicks "Start Summary," unless automatic initiation is configured in the web settings.
