BioRender
BioRender is a web-based scientific illustration tool designed to help researchers, educators, and students create high-quality, publication-ready figures with ease. It offers a large library of scientifically accurate icons and templates covering areas like biology, medicine, and chemistry, allowing users to quickly build diagrams such as pathways, mechanisms, and experimental workflows without needing advanced design skills. Its drag-and-drop interface, collaboration features, and export options (for journals, presentations, and teaching materials) make it especially popular in academic and biotech settings for communicating complex scientific concepts clearly and professionally.
Licenses for Biorender are available to faculty, staff, and graduate students as part of Western’s Enterprise License. Licenses can be requested through WTS. Once the license request has been approved, users can log in to BioRender to begin using the software.
- The cost for faculty and staff is $215/year - A speed code is required for purchase.
- The software is free for graduate students.
