Who Can Use Zoom?

The Zoom License is available for students, faculty, and staff at Western and its affiliated colleges.

*Please note that students cannot request any chargeable license upgrades e.g. join by Toll-free dialing

Activate Your Zoom Account

To activate your Zoom account, open your web browser and go to

  • Select Sign in
  • When prompted, log in on the Western WebLogin page with your Western Identity username and password.
  • Your Zoom account will be activated automatically and you'll be taken to your Zoom Profile page.


NOTE: If you already have a Zoom account, you will receive an acceptance email to join Western's Zoom account. 

Install Zoom

The Zoom software is available for Windows and Macintosh desktop computers, Apple iOS devices, and Android devices.

Once you have installed Zoom, you can access Zoom either through the URL or the application on your computer or device.

Install Zoom on Your Computer 

  1. Download the app at After installing the app, you will see a login screen. 
  2. Click Sign In with SSO.
  3. When prompted for a domain, type westernuniversity
  5. Enter your Western Identity username and password. 
  6. If you're on a Windows computer:go to settings (gear on top right) and check “Start Zoom When I Start Windows.”

Install Zoom on a Mobile Device

  1. Install the app at one of these links: iOS | Android
  2. Tap Sign In.
  3. Tap the SSO option.
  4. When prompted for a company name, enter westernuniversity and click Continue.
  5. Enter your Western Identity username and password.

Log In to the Zoom App

You can log in through the Zoom app or through the Zoom website. Both methods work fine, so use whichever you prefer.

This page describes logging in through the Zoom app.

  1. Open the Zoom app (or program) on your device (Windows, Mac, Android, iOS device).
  2. Select Sign In with SSO. On the Sign In with SSO screen, enter westernuniversity, then click Continue. 

  3. The Zoom app will open and be ready for you.
